【摘要】:Thispracticecoversthepreparationanduseofsemi-adiabaticcalorimetersformeasurementofabsorbeddoseingraphite,water,orpolystyrenewhenirradiatedwithelectrons.Thecalorimetersareeithertransportedbyaconveyorpastascannedelectronbeamorarestationaryinabroadenedbeam.Italsocoverstheuseofthesecalorimeterstocalibratedosimetersystemsinelectronbeamsintendedforradiationprocessingapplications.Thispracticeappliestoelectronbeamsintheenergyrangefrom4to12MeV.Theabsorbeddoserangedependsontheabsorbingmaterialandtheirradiationandmeasurementconditions.Minimumdoseisapproximately100Gyandmaximumdoseisapproximately50kGy.Theaveragedabsorbeddoseraterangeshallgenerallybegreaterthan10Gy[dot]s-1,butdependsonthesameconditionsasabove.Thetemperaturerangeforuseofthesecalorimetersdependsonthethermalresistanceofthematerialsandonthecalibrationrangeofthetemperaturesensor.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
